Philadelphia

Our Mission

To love our brothers and sisters on the streets in Philadelphia.

We will be serving with Christ in the City missionaries in Philadelphia, PA. Our mission is to love others as Christ loves us: in and through our poverty. This will be our 3rd year serving with Christ in the City and first time serving at their Philadelphia location. We are seeking to do this with our brothers and sisters who are experiencing homelessness. Our group will consist of 1 staff member and 9 students. During our mission trip, we will have the opportunity to do daily life with the missionaries which includes daily prayer through mass, liturgy of the hours, and adoration, receive intellectual and spiritual formation, and go on street walks and participate in their night ministries.

Student Testimonies

"Homelessness is a very real issue, and you would be surprised at how much it means to the marginalized of society when someone makes the time and effort to really learn about their lives and talk to them about everything, from faith to what their favorite color is."

"Be a friend. A big takeaway from this experience that I think about is to stop judging by status or appearance because we are all human. Every human needs a friend and every human has a story. Listen to those you would normally stray away from and go out of your comfort zone."

β€œIt is in giving of ourselves that we are able to receive. We are all called to be as Christ; to lay down our lives for our friends. What better way is there to learn to lay down your life than to give up your spring break, take a chance with some Aggie Catholics you might not know, and spend a week giving of yourself? All while being surrounded by missionaries who have committed their lives to giving. Take the chance and you will receive so much more than you give.”
