Permanent Parishioners
Programs & Organizations   >   Permanent Parishioners

St. Mary's values all permanent parishioners in our community.  While our mission is focused on the students, faculty, and staff at Texas A&M and Blinn, we welcome all who want to join us in this mission.  Below are some of the opportunities for permanent parishioners to get involved.

General volunteer opportunities

Receptions and Funeral Meals

Volunteers are needed to make/bring/serve food at receptions, as well as after funerals at St.Mary’s.  For more information or to be put on the e-mail list please contact:

Bernice Schiller – for receptions

Rachael Cadena – for funeral meal help

Food for lunches and retreats

Help making and serving meals or organizing volunteers to bring in different dishes.

Email Rachael Cadena if you would like to receive an e-mail (or phone call) when events come up.

Marketing Guest Speakers/Special Events

Publicity – creating flyers, posting flyers and bulletin announcements, etc for St.Mary’s as a whole and for specific events. If you have marketing skills and would like to help, please contact

Marcel LeJeune.

Photography or Videography

If you have photography experience, we have so many great events and good times here at St. Mary's, and often need a photographer to get a few good pictures of it all.  If you are interested in being contacted to take pictures when other events come up please contact Mary Walker.

Alter Linens/Sacristy Work

We can use help with cleaning altar linens (involves rinsing, washing and ironing the altar linens) as well as help with keeping up the sacristy (polishing chalices and candlesticks, etc) and preparing the Church for the major solemnities of Easter and Christmas as well as other special circumstances. There are many kinds of tasks that can be done during the week at flexible times.

For more information contact Mike Macicek.

Sewing

If you enjoy sewing, we often have needs such as:  altar cloths, decorations, custom-size tablecloths, robes and gowns for baptismal candidates, making stoles for deacons, repairing vestments, etc.  Contact Mike Macicek.

Repairing microphone and instrument cables

If you are a hobbyist, electrician, or just enjoy working with a soldering iron, we have a box full of microphone and instrument cables that simply need their wires re-attached to their posts.  Contact Mike Macicek.

Adopt an Aggie

The Adopt an Aggie program pairs permanent parishioners with Aggie students so the Ags can have a little bit of a family home away from home. If you are interested in helping to advertise and pair up the families with the students (there are applications that families and students fill out that make this process easy), or be an adoptive family, please Contact Adam Koll.

Sponsor Couples

The Sponsor Couples program is part of the marriage prep to engaged couples at St.Mary’s. The sponsoring couple meets with the engaged couple 3-4 times while using a marriage prep book as a guide.  If you would like to be a Sponsor Couple please contact Fr. David.
