Spiritans
Programs & Organizations   >   Vocations   >   Discernment Information   >   Consecrated & Religious   >   Men   >   Spiritans

Spiritans often go where living conditions are most difficult. The people they choose to be with are often struggling to survive from one day to the next. They are downhearted and diminished in spirit, forgotten or abandoned by civil and government institutions, and suffering injustice. Spiritans assist those people who are poor, sick and hungry, working with whole communities in need. They educate young men and women in high schools, universities, and seminaries in the skills they will need to further our efforts in serving humanity.

The Spiritan international family of over 40 Provinces and Foundations spans the globe, from North America to South America and the Caribbean, from Europe to Asia, from North Africa to South Africa, from East Africa to West Africa, from the Indian Ocean to Australia. The novitiate to be a Spiritan involves several years of overseas study learning about other cultures.

There are also Lay Spiritans who live in practical union with God in the Spirit. While not formal Spiritan "brothers" or "sisters", lay Spiritans are an essential part of the Spiritan family. Equipped with a rich variety of gifts and unique personalities, they work with the Spiritan fathers and brothers at various levels of the Congregation's ministry.
