Sunday for the Poor drive

Dates:   August 7-8, 2010

Sunday for the Poor Food Drive on August 7 & 8

2009 Census data showed that 22% of them children in Brazos County live in households facing hunger, one of the highest rates in the nation! Over 50% of the children received free or subsidized meals at school. However during the summer vacations, parents are struggling to feed their children while paying their rent and keeping their utilities on. Let us not be like the rich man in the Gospel parable today who selfishly stored all his grain and goods only to die and not enjoy his abundance anyway.

You can help feeding the hungry in Bryan/College Station by bringing cans of fruit, vegetable or beans to the food drive at St. Mary’s next weekend, August 7 & 8, for the St. Vincent de Paul Society food pantry.

Donations can be put in the carts at the back of the church. Thank you for helping feeding the hungry of our community!
